How Transloading Works
Arrival at Port or Terminal: Goods arrive in shipping containers at a port or terminal. These containers are unloaded and prepared for further transportation.
Transfer to a Transloading Facility: Containers are transported to a nearby transloading facility, where the cargo is unloaded. This facility is equipped to handle various types of goods, including oversized, palletized, or loose items.
Cargo Repacking or Redistribution: Goods are repacked, sorted, or consolidated as needed. For instance, products may be transferred from international shipping containers to domestic trailers or flatbeds suitable for their next destination.
Mode Change or Final Transport: After repacking, goods are loaded onto a different mode of transportation—such as trucks, railcars, or another shipping method—depending on the delivery requirements.
Timely Delivery: The goods are delivered to their final destination, whether it’s a warehouse, distribution center, or retail location, ensuring minimal delays and efficient supply chain management.
