UI/UX Graphic Designer

Position Overview

OLIMP is looking for an experienced UX / Graphic Designer who will be responsible for researching and identifying UX issues in our software and providing recommendations to our development team. The ideal designer is someone who is dedicated, takes personal ownership of their tasks, as well as thorough in their UI mockups / wireframes, research & documentation. To be successful in this role, you must be an extremely effective communicator with a collaborative mindset, who has the ability adapt to a continuous evolving environment. The ideal candidate has experience working in startup companies, an effective knowledge of modern design principals and a portfolio of successful projects.

What you’ll do:

  • Creates innovative solutions for a wide variety of product design challenges, including mobile, desktop, hardware interfaces, physical environments, and person-to-person interactions. 
  • Leads the design for new experiences and improvements of existing experiences. 
  • Quickly iterates on multiple interactive design solutions and work through details. 
  • Advocates for design solutions, highlighting inputs that influenced the decisions including business and user goals, demographic and usage data, and research findings. 
  • Develops high level, detailed storyboards, mock-ups, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas. 
  • Delivers work that’s not only user-friendly, aesthetically engaging, but which also produces results. 
  • Works alongside engineers and product managers throughout all stages of the production cycle. 
  • Assesses and optimizes the performance of new and existing features by actively participating in user research and assessing performance metrics. 
  • Develops and maintains detailed user-interface specifications. 
  • Contributes to the group’s shared knowledge of user-centered design and research methodologies. 
  • Design web page layouts and templates. 
  • Produce design assets for use in social media and marketing channels. 
  • Develop and maintain consistent branding. 
  • Create and maintain a database of design assets. 
  • Plans and illustrates concepts by designing rough layouts of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetics. 
  • Obtains approval of concepts by preparing rough layouts for review. 
  • Prepares final layout by marking and pasting up finished copy and art. 
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; and participating in professional societies. 

Our Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human-computer interaction (HCI), graphic design, and one to three years of professional design experience or 5+ years equivalent professional experience 
  • Master’s in Human Factors, HCDE, or Cognitive Psychology not required but a plus 
  • 3+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role 
  • A portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centered design solutions 
  • Experience designing and shipping products for mobile and desktop 
  • Experience with a variety of design and prototyping tools such as Axure, Sketch, Hype, and Keynote 
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) 
  • Experience with WordPress, HTML, Javascript, and CSS 
  • Social media and email marketing experience a plus
